The sun doesn’t always shine: How train strikes have affected morning sunshine coffee

At Morning Sunshine Coffee, we have felt the impact of train strikes over the past year, and it hasn’t been pleasant. With no help from Chiltern and constant last-minute closures, our business has taken a hit in terms of revenue, trust with our customers, and our relationship with the train companies. In this blog post, we will explore how train strikes have affected us, and the challenges we have faced due to the disruptions.

The impact of the train strikes

The last year has been an incredibly difficult one for businesses, particularly those relying on customers travelling via rail. Morning Sunshine Coffee is no different. The owner Ashley Davis shared that their company has lost £42,787 in trade due to the train strikes and described the situation as “devastating”. With the support from Chiltern Railways remaining elusive, Ashley said: “We have not been given rent relief and it’s extremely unlikely we will do in the future.”

“If this does not get sorted, we are left as collateral damage. Our bills still have to be paid every month,” says Ashley Davis, owner of a coffee shop near Birmingham New Street. “It has been very stressful,” adds Tarri Virk, a cab driver who regularly services the area.

The train strikes over the past year have had a devastating effect on local businesses and individuals, like coffee shop owners and staff at 200 Degrees near Birmingham New Street, as well as cab drivers who have lost business due to customers being unable to travel in or out of the city. The constant last minute closures caused by strike action has eroded trust with our customer base and destroyed the friendship between train companies and local businesses.

We urge both sides to come to a solution that will end this stand-off, so we can all return to normal life again. Our livelihoods depend on it.

The future of morning sunshine coffee

Despite the difficult circumstances of the train strikes over the last year, we remain optimistic and are determined to move forward. We are confident that the strikes will come to an end soon, and want to thank our amazing customers for their continued support throughout these trying times.

We have been working hard to improve our customer service and build a stronger relationship with train companies like Chiltern. We strive to provide excellent coffee and breakfast services and are eager to restore trust in our customers’ minds. Our priority is ensuring that all of our customers can access our services without any disruption.

We believe the future is bright for Morning Sunshine Coffee, and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.
